(Bangkok Post file photo)Consumer confidence in March rose to its highest level in two years, helped by stronger exports, tourism and commodity prices, a private survey showed on Friday. The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce's index increased to 76.8 points last month, up from 75.8 in February. Consumers were still cautious about spending but consumption should recover in the first half of the year, the university said in a statement. On March 29, the Bank of Thailand raised its 2017 economic growth forecast to 3.4% from 3.2%. It also upgraded its 2017 export outlook to a 2.2% rise from no growth.
